Support people who have difficulty in renting
The system registers private lease housing which can accept elderly, disabled people, foreign, and child raising households and provides this information to support house hunting as well as providing information about living support after moving in.
The program provides assistance for those wanting to rent housing by providing guarantees related to the obligation to pay rent after they move in.
The Foundation for Senior Citizens’ Housing operates a rent guarantee program to help people move into rental housing for households. This is for households that include senior citizens, people with disabilities, foreigners, and/or young children that are unable to obtain guarantors for this purpose.
Furthermore, many private surety bond companies have developed their own surety products, and properties that do not require guarantors are increasing in number.
Consisting of 24 organizations—including the Kanagawa prefectural government—the Kanagawa Prefecture Tenants’ Support Council was established in November 2010 in accordance with Article 10 of the law to promote rental housing for tenants who require special considerations to obtain housing.
The council has two subcommittees—one for housing assistance and handling housing complex redevelopment—and provides assistance to senior citizens, people with disabilities, and others who require special considerations to obtain housing, as well as with the revitalization of housing complexes and local communities.
